Kenneth Merin, Esq.
OF COUNSEL Kenneth D. Merin served received his B.A. degree from George Washington University in 1969 and his J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law in 1975. He earned an LLM from George Washington University School of Law in 1980.
Mr. Merin has an extensive background in public policy matters at both the state and federal levels. From 1975 through 1980, he worked for the United States Congress. Mr. Merin ran the issues section of Thomas H. Kean's successful 1981 gubernatorial campaign. He thereafter served as Deputy Chief Counsel to Governor Kean and was appointed Commissioner of Insurance in 1984. In 1985, he returned to the State House as Director of Policy and Planning. From 1986 to 1990, he served a second term as New Jersey's Commissioner of Insurance.
Mr. Merin joined Purcell, Ries, Shannon, Mulcahy & O’Neill as a partner in 1997 and founded the firm's Insurance Regulatory Practice Group.
Mr. Merin is a decorated veteran of the Vietnam War, having served as an infantry officer in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. He currently serves as President of the Charles Hayden Foundation, a non-profit foundation headquartered in New York City.
